I wanted to rant about a few things here (on brainless stuff I have no problem wasting my time on), but I think this bit is much more important: I just submitted my first story. To which publishing company I will not say. In what genre I will only give this hint: it’s a certain niche in the “Romance” genre.
I’m calm because I’m tired right now (it’s nearly 1:30AM PST here and I did a 110-minute super deep tissue massage hours ago) and I know I got a 50/50 chance of my story either being accepted or rejected. My odds are as average as a skinny, Botox-filled blonde in Hollywood. And, of course, if I’m turned down, there are other places I can submit my work to. Although it’s tricky; my story doesn’t have a happy ending (but is a part one of a two-parter in which the second part has a happy ending), and a lot of these Romance book companies want that “happily ever after” or “happy for now” ending, no exceptions. So much for these companies accepting all sorts of stories when, in actuality, they prefer those who write what they want. *shrugs*
Wish my ass luck!
